This detox smoothie is so easy to make that a monkey could do it. Though it lacks complexity in preparation, it does boast an incredible amount of health benefits due to its phenomenal ingredients:

The green apple is world famous for keeping doctors away, and that is because it contains pectin which promotes the “good” bacteria in your gut by acting as a prebiotic and have way less sugar than other kinds of apples. Pineapples are overflowing with antioxidants and contain a digestive enzyme called bromelaine which improves your protein digestion besides boosting your immunity towards inflammation in your body. Bananas are well known for their lushness of potassium which help in reducing blood pressure and in turn lower the risk of heart diseases. Ginger possesses anti-inflammatory effects that help your body to lower fasting blood sugar levels. Spinach is a symbol of strength (thanks Popeye) and prevents oxidative damage to the body besides reducing the risk of cancer. Cilantro portrays antibacterial effects against salmonella and is great to deal with heavy metal toxicity. Lime is obviously a great source for vitamin C and is also loaded with antioxidants which increases your production of white blood cells, the agents of health in your body.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup water (or orange juice)
  • 1 green apple
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • ½ inch fresh ginger
    peeled and minced
  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • small handful fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

    Step 1
    Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend it until it is smooth. Pour smoothie into a chilled glass and serve.

    In case you do not have a high-speed blender, I suggest blending the cilantro, spinach and ginger first in water, to make it easier to break them down. Afterwards add the fruit and lime juice and blend again.
