If American Pie is basically just an apple pie than consider this delicious plum cake as a Great Britain Cake. It is one of the oldest pastry desserts and from its humble beginnings to this day it still fills the houses and hearts of families with pure love and joy.

Ingredients
  • 600g white flour
  • 1/4tsp salt
  • 3tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 pack vanilla sugar
  • 1/2 cube yeast (approx. 20g)
  • 60g soft butter
    cut into cubes
  • 3 1/2dl warmish milk
  • 1kg plums
    halved, stone taken out
  • 150g almonds slivers
  • 100g ground almonds
  • 50g white flour
  • 3tbsp brown sugar
  • 100g soft butter, cut into pieces
How To
  • 1
    Step 1
    For the dough: Mix flour up to the yeast in a big bowl. Add the butter and milk and knead into a smooth dough. Cover and leave to rise at room temperature for approx. 1 hour. Place the dough in the form and press flat. Then cover with plums.

    Step 2
    For the crumble: Mix the almond silvers and remaining ingredients and distribute crumble over the plums.

    Step 3
    To bake: Place the oven tray in the centre of a cold oven and bake for approx. 50 mins at 180 degrees. Remove from oven and let the cake cool down on a rack. Your delicious plum cake is finished!
