Ingredients
4dl red wine
100g cane sugar
2 star anise
3 cardamon pods
4 pears with stems

Step 1
Bring the wine, sugar, star anise and cardamom to the boil in a small pan.

Peel the pears, leave the stems intact, cut in half and remove the cores.

Add the pears to the wine, simmer gently over a low heat for approx. 25 mins., turning the pears occasionally. Allow the pears to cool in the wine, cover and chill for approx. 6 hrs.

Remove the pears from the wine and set aside. Reduce the wine to approx. 150 ml, allow to cool, serve with the pears.
